Learn what it's really like to work on a cruise ship.

Most positions will have a shared cabin with one other person from the same department. Each cabin has a bathroom, TV, and a bunk bed with a privacy curtain.

Depending upon your position and ship, you may have a single cabin, a single shared-bathroom cabin, and a porthole.

You may enjoy the ports of call unless you are scheduled to work or are assigned other ship duties. Ask us for further details specifically regarding your position.

You should have impressive land-based experience and appropriate qualifications and/or education to be considered for a position on board.

Cruise ships travel all over the world! You may visit all 7 continents if you work on board for a few years.

Depending upon your assignment, you may be  assigned to one general region, or visit several different continents over the duration of your contract. 

This depends on your position. On average, your contract will last around 7 months.

Your privileges vary according to rank. Most times, you are able to use guest facilities if you are dressed appropriately, wear a name tag, and conduct yourself in a professional manner.

This includes use of guest gyms, restaurants, lounge areas, pools, and bars.

This depends upon your position, whether the ship is at sea or in port, and what duties you have.

On avaerage, expect to work between 6 – 10 hours per day, 7 days a week.

You will be required to pass a series of interviews, a seaman’s medical exam, and a background check.

You must have a passport that is valid throughout the duration of your contract.

You may need a uniform that can be purchased on land or on the ship. You should bring attire to be worn during formal nights.

Requesting a specific ship or itinerary is a privilege awarded to those who have worked on board previously. In most cases, requests will not be accepted until a probationary period has been completed.

Most positions will be responsible for the expenses of their medical exam, passport fees, and uniforms.

Room and board are paid for by the cruise line. Meals are provided at no cost.

Depending upon position, rank, and tenure, airfare and hotels will be provided at no cost.
